I have known Fred Eason for more than 30 years.  I met Fred when he was an Institutional Broker with Shearson American Express and I was Chief Executive Officer with Borg Warner Acceptance Corporation, which, at that time was one of the largest non-bank lenders in North America.  Fred was experienced in Municipal Bonds and was providing bonds for the portfolio of four insurance companies under my supervision.  I was so pleased with Fred’s services that I began to by bonds personally from Fred.  That began a relationship that evolved into a friendship that has lasted for more than 30 years.  Over that time, we have grown my personal portfolio from $2 million to more than $30 million through some volatile market conditions, including the crashes of 1987, 1999, the bombings of 911 and the crash of 2008.  We also worked together to do all of my estate planning.  We started buying farm land together in 1990 and have accumulated more than 2,600 acres and have achieved a compounded rate of return in excess of 17 percent over that time, much better than stock market returns.  During that time, Fred and I have become best friends and I would highly recommend him and Delta Land Management Company, which he manages and the entity which manages the farm land owned by my Children’s Trust.  I would also highly recommend his son, Robert Eason, who manages both of our farms.
